Changing my mind

 

I have spent a couple of days making a wooden seat for the kayak, and today I tried it for size. It's quite comfy, but I am not happy with the weight of it (too much) and the fact that it means I will sit a little too high. So I am going to set the wooden seat aside and buy a kayak seat cushion, made from silicone, and put this directly on the bottom of the boat.

If this doesn't work out, I can always revert to the wooden tractor seat, or maybe make a light weight one from fibreglass...

 All the panels wired together and ends of the sheer camps glued. Mistake 2...I trimmed these before making sure that the beam was the correct 33 inches, so had to make a couple of small wedges to infill. Kit Ordered

  I have stopped obsessing, and have ordered the kit from Fyne Boats. My garage is just long enough for the build (I hope), and the garden shed is just big enough to accommodate the completed kayak (I hope).  The finished craft should look something like the photo.

The third coat

 Here is the third coat of epoxy going onto the hull. The glass weave has disappeared from the flat bottom, but there is still a little visible on the sides - I might need a forth coat there. I am using a small foam paint roller, and the epoxy goes on very thinly - a good thing, I think.
