Tragedy (well, a bit sad)

I was planning down the deck overhang when I knocked my block plane onto the floor and it broke.  The 'lever cap' (cast metal top piece that holds the iron in place) snapped and that was the end of that. The reason I'm a bit sad it that it was my Dad's (and possibly my Grandad's before that). So nothing for it but to buy a new one. This one is more adjustable and I am very pleased with it.

 All the panels wired together and ends of the sheer camps glued. Mistake 2...I trimmed these before making sure that the beam was the correct 33 inches, so had to make a couple of small wedges to infill. I also had to take the table off my bandsaw to make enough room... I had some fun with time lapse on my phone too...

Kit Ordered

  I have stopped obsessing, and have ordered the kit from Fyne Boats. My garage is just long enough for the build (I hope), and the garden shed is just big enough to accommodate the completed kayak (I hope).  The finished craft should look something like the photo.

A small change of plan

  I was just starting to fit the deck when it occurred to me to count the nails provided. The number in the bag was fewer than I'll need, so I have contacted Fyne and they will be sending more. In the meantime, I decided to paint the inside of the forward and aft compartments. In other developments,  I have booked to go on a 5 day sea kayak course in Scotland in Spring next year...very excited!
